is the study of the iris of the eye. The iris reflects the condition of the tissues (e.g. inflammation, acidity, toxicity, congested lymph, hardened arteries, etc.). Iridology is therefore not concerned with named diseases but with restoration and maintenance of good health, through building up the patient's immunity and life force. Thus iridology allows our REAL THERAPIES CLINIC to recommend non-invasive, therapeutic remedies.

Iridology is not a treatment or therapy in itself but an assessment technique used in conjunction with a medical history, physical examination and other corroborating evidence, to decide appropriate treatments or therapies. As such iridology should be used by practitioners with recognised medical or complementary health care qualifications, such as our practitioners at REAL THERAPIES CLINIC.

Iridology History dates back hundreds of years. One of the first people to make a connection between signs in the eyes and changes in the body was Hippocrates. However, the widely accepted ‘father’ of iridology is the Hungarian physician Ignatz von Pezcely (1826-1911) who discovered a phenomenon we now call ophthalmic-somatic analysis (iridology) and developed the first 'iris map'. It is stated that as a child he captured an injured owl in his backyard that had a broken leg. He noticed a black line in one of its eyes but when the leg healed, a white mark had appeared instead. This incident led to a life-long interest in, and study of, iridology.

Iridology offers several advantages to the health practitioner who includes it in practice:
•   Iridology is a safe, powerful, non invasive tool that can be used by practitioners with medical diagnostic skills.
•  In primary health care, iridology is a most valuable technique because it is extremely cost effective and provides immediate information, so no time is wasted.
•   Signs shown through Iridology are evident in the iris of the eye long before significant pathology in the body is observed, and can therefore be used effectively in the implementation of Preventative Health Care.
•   Iridology may provide information about vital processes in the body, such as signs of biochemical   deficiencies, or physiological needs, and can be detected before the appearance of symptoms. This includes information about tissue changes, toxic deposits, poor circulation and poor waste clearance.

Your iridology assessment will also give you the following information:
•   Your genetic make-up, including any pre-dispositions to diseases and potential health challenges
•   Any inefficient organs and systems in the right and left side of your body
•   Nutrition recommendations and lifestyle advice beneficial for your genetic iris type and/or any weakened organ areas.

An iris analysis is of value to adults and children alike. Learning about, and understanding, your genetic constitution may help prevent chronic health problems, including allergies, arthritis, diabetes, eczema, high blood pressure and many others.

How iridology works:

Bloodshot Eye

This is an example of an eye with visible digestive toxicity, denoted by the brown marks around the pupil.

Because iridology provides an overviewof the over-all state of health (including present and inherited disease patterns), iridology provides a framework for assessing future limitations and potentials of a patient’s health.
